A junior gymnast has to be invited into the Junior Programme. Gymnasts can be selected from the Developmental Programme or from the Gymstart classes . Selection criteria is based on a condition and skills test which we have created and can be seen in the gym.

Girls in junior squads will train and compete in Women’s Artistic Level 2-5 in General Levels or Plus Levels.  Gymnasts in this programme will train 3 to 4 sessions a week with sessions lasting 2 hours. They are also expected to train on their strength and flexibility at home.

Boys in junior squad will train towards and compete as Men’s Artistic Level 1 competitions. They are expected to train 3 sessions per week each session between 1.5 and 2 hrs. They are also expected to train at home on their strength and flexibility.

Junior boys and girls will compete at Gymnastic Irelands National Competitions in Artistic Gymnastics. There are usually 2 or 3 competitions held per year and are held at the National Sports Arena in Dublin.
